Poor Credit Credit Cards No Annual Fee
Question:
Hi Wendy, I need to know which credit card to get for a trip to
China. I want a card with no foreign-transaction fees and no annual fee
for the first year. I've already paid for the China tour, but I'll need
the card for shopping, meals in restaurants, and any side excursions we
may make. I will also want to use the card for shopping on a trip to
Canada.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Poor Credit Credit Cards No Annual Fee
Answer:
Poor Credit Credit Cards No Annual Fee Judi, I'm going to suggest either a Capital One Venture Rewards Card or a Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.
Your choice should depend mainly on how much you plan to spend on what,
and how you want to use the miles you earn. Let me explain:
Poor Credit Credit Cards No Annual Fee
The Capital One Venture Rewards Card gives you two miles for every
dollar you spend and, if you put $1,000 on the card within the first
three months, you get 10,000 bonus miles (which in Capital One's rewards
system are worth $100 toward travel rewards). The Chase Sapphire
Preferred Card gives you two miles per dollar you spend specifically on
travel (airfare, hotels, cruises, rental cars, trains, taxis, tolls) and
restaurant meals (from fast food to fine dining), but only one mile per
dollar on everything else (in your case, shopping). If you spend $3,000
within the first three months, though, you get 40,000 bonus miles
(which in Chase's rewards system are worth $500 toward travel rewards).
That's 30,000 more bonus miles than the Venture Rewards card offers.
You'd need to spend an extra $15,000 on the Venture Rewards card to earn
that many miles. Poor Credit Credit Cards No Annual Fee The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card also pays a 7%
points dividend at the end of the year on all the points you earned
during the year. This means you're actually getting 2.07 miles for every
dollar you spend on travel and dining. So, Judi, the first thing to
consider is: How much do you plan to spend on shopping?
